This article describes how to complete the Master Configuration Wizard in visitor id. The Master Configuration Wizard opens when visitor id is first run on the master PC after installing and allows setting up of basic options, including Company information, importing Personnel and setting up this specific workstation type and options.
- The ‘Welcome to the Master Configuration Wizard’ window should appear when visitor id first starts after installing. If this window doesn’t appear, you can open the ‘Configuration Wizard’ by clicking ‘File > Configuration Wizard’. Click the ‘Next’ button to get started:
- In the ‘Enter Organisation Details’ window, enter your Company Name, Company Address and upload your Company Logo. Click the ‘Next button to continue:
- In the ‘General Options’ window, choose whether to import Personnel now via the Import Personnel CSV spread sheet file (Yes), or skip importing Personnel for now (No). If skipping importing Personnel then go straight to step 5 below:
- Note: Personnel can always be imported at a later time.
- Note: If the Active Directory or kwiklook integration types are to be used with this visitor id installation then please choose ‘No’ to skip importing Personnel.
- In the ‘Enter your Personnel and Departments’ window, you have the ability to add your Personnel here individually by clicking the ‘New’ button and filling out the details for each person, or importing directly from a CSV file. To import from a CSV file, click the ‘Import’ button then follow the instructions here: How to Import Personnel.
- Note: If you decide not to import any Personnel and click the ‘Next’ button, a warning message will appear advised that no Personnel have been imported. To overcome this message, press the ‘Back’ button and choose the ‘No’ option in the ‘General Options’ window, then press the ‘Next’ button.
- In the ‘Reception or Kiosk Installation?’ window, choose whether this PC will be set to ‘Reception’ mode or ‘Kiosk’ mode:
- Reception mode: When the workstation is set to ‘Reception’ mode, visitor id opens normally and allows a receptionist or administrator to use visitor id to sign-in and out visitors and run reports.
- Kiosk mode: When the workstation is set to ‘Kiosk’ mode, visitor id will open the self sign-in and out kiosk automatically when visitor id starts. To get back to ‘Reception’ mode the kiosk needs to be exited by entering a password.
- Note: If choosing ‘Reception’ mode, please skip to step 9 below.
- In the ‘Kiosk Identification’ window, enter the name of the kiosk and a welcome message. Click the ‘Next’ button to continue:
- In the ‘Enter the Kiosk Password’ window, the password to exit the kiosk is set here. The default password is ‘admin’. We highly recommend you change this password and record the new password in your organisation’s password management system. Click the ‘Next’ button to continue:
- In the ‘Workstation Options’ window, choose whether you want your visitors to be able to sign-out from this kiosk. If the ‘No’ option is chosen then only the ‘Sign-In’ button will be available for your visitors in ‘Kiosk’ mode. Click the ‘Next’ button to continue:
- In the ‘Visitor Photos’ window, choose whether you will be using a Web Camera to capture visitor photos during the sign-in process. The web camera can be setup at a later time if the web camera is not currently installed. If choosing ‘No’ then skip to step 11 below. Press the ‘Next’ button to continue:
- In the ‘Camera Setup’ window, click the ‘Select the video source (Camera)’ drop list and choose your web camera. Click the ‘Preview Video’ button to make sure the web camera is working correctly. Click the ‘Next’ button to continue.
- In the ‘Visitor Pass’ window, choose whether you will be using a pass printer to print visitor labels. The pass printer must be already installed on the PC. This step can be skipped and setup later if the pass printer is not currently installed on the PC. If choosing ‘No’ then skip to step 13 below. If choosing ‘Yes’ then also choose the brand of pass printer that is installed. Click the ‘Next’ button to continue:
- In the ‘(Printer Brand) Printer Setup’ window, press the ‘Select’ button to choose a pre-defined visitor pass template. Once a visitor pass template has been chosen, press the ‘Print Sample Visitor Pass’ button to confirm the pass printer is working correctly. Press the ‘Next’ button to continue.
- Congratulations! The Master Configuration Wizard is now complete. Click the ‘Finish’ button to restart visitor id with your chosen options:
